As someone who considers themselves relatively accustomed to working remotely, the past few months have been a sobering experience.

Strange days indeed…
Our industry is holding up pretty well all things considered, and I’m keeping busy on productive matters. In addition, obviously, to the surfeit of family Netflix binging and Zoom-powered quizzes!
It’s worth stopping to reflect on how instrumental our industry has been in providing the integrity (verified & validated!) underpinning every aspect of the communications fabric that we are now relying on more than ever. It’s facilitated almost a seamless relocation of vast swathes of our employed ranks to working from home, most of which have limited IT or technical expertise – everything just works!
Just as importantly, the new normal will reflect a permanent shift in working profile and patterns. Almost every person on the planet has had chance to take stock and reflect – a collective experience unparalleled in scale and impact – and every one of us will be different as a result. As we realign our personal and society priorities, there will be some common themes: less travel, more focus on local communities and tackling the elusive work-life balance. Again, engineering innovations, and the embedded systems that support them, will provide the bedrock to support this seismic shift.
We’re meeting the challenge: we’ve adapted our VHDL training courses to offer them all online, still benefiting from access to the instructor. Our technical specialists also remain available, continuing to support our customers and offering one-on-one tailored demos of our best-in-class EDA tools and solutions.
Certainly now is not the time to crow but we’re proud to play a small role in an industry that, transparent as it often is, has everyone’s back both in bad times and the better ones that will absolutely come.
Most peculiar, mama.
